At the heart of our school is a special sacred space known as ‘The Sanctuary’, which plays an important part in the prayer and liturgical life of our Catholic community. Each week, a different year group celebrates Mass in the Sanctuary, warmly welcoming parents, families and parishioners to worship alongside the children.
The Sanctuary is also the base for our GIFT Team, providing a dedicated space for pupils to meet, reflect and plan opportunities for prayer, including the prayers they lead for others on the playground.
This treasured room has a particularly strong connection to the heritage of our parish, as it houses the original Stations of the Cross from the former Our Lady and St Paul’s Church, preserving an important part of our shared history following the sad demolition of the original church building.
Classes use the Sanctuary for their weekly class worship, enabling pupils to encounter prayer in a calm, reverent and purposeful environment.
Beyond the school day, the Sanctuary is a place of welcome and communion, hosting a range of events involving our parishioners, local community and wider Trust family. In this way, the Sanctuary is much more than a room; it is a visible expression of our Catholic identity, bringing together prayer, liturgy, pupil leadership, heritage and community in a space where faith is actively celebrated and lived.
