Our school day is carefully structured to provide children with a calm, welcoming start, high-quality learning throughout the day and consistent routines that help every child to feel safe, happy and ready to learn.
The school gates open at 8:40am. Children in Key Stage 2 enter through the playground, where members of staff are positioned at the gates and throughout the playground to welcome them into school. Children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 gather on the front yard, where staff greet them before walking them into school.
As children enter their classrooms, their teacher is there to welcome them each morning. Pupils settle calmly and begin their morning work while the register is taken. We ask that all children arrive promptly so that valuable learning time is maximised and every child benefits from a positive and settled start to the day.
Across the school, our mornings provide a strong foundation for both academic learning and spiritual development. Our core subjects of Reading, Writing and Mathematics are taught during the morning, alongside Prayer and Worship, which are an important part of our daily life as a Catholic school. These opportunities allow our children to come together in prayer, reflection and worship, placing our faith at the heart of each school day.
We are committed to providing our children with clear, consistent and “relentless routines”, creating a culture of positive behaviour in which children understand expectations, feel secure and are able to focus fully on their learning.
Morning playtimes are staggered between 10:15am and 11:00am. Children are welcome to bring a healthy snack to enjoy at this time, and fruit is also available in school. During breaktimes, pupils can enjoy a range of playground games and make use of our new playground facilities.
Lunchtimes are also staggered to ensure that both the dining hall and playground remain as calm and pleasant as possible for our pupils. Our Playground Leaders support Mrs Concannon in organising games and activities, while members of our GIFT Team lead opportunities for prayer on the playground, helping to ensure that our Catholic faith remains at the heart of school life throughout the day.
Our afternoons are filled with rich and engaging learning experiences across the wider curriculum. Children enjoy Science, Modern Foreign Languages taught by our specialist teacher, PE, including swimming, Music, Computing, Humanities and a wide range of other curriculum opportunities. At the heart of our curriculum is Religious Education.
As a Catholic school, our beliefs, values and faith form a golden thread running through our curriculum and every aspect of school life. We aim to ensure that children not only achieve academically but also grow spiritually, socially and personally.
The school day finishes at 3:15pm. Children in Key Stage 2 are collected from the KS2 playground, while children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 are collected from the front yard.
To further support our families and enrich the experiences available to our pupils, we offer breakfast provision before school and a wide variety of after-school extracurricular clubs. These opportunities complement our curriculum and allow children to develop their interests, talents and skills beyond the classroom.
Through calm routines, high expectations, a rich curriculum and our shared Catholic values, we aim to make every school day a happy, purposeful and rewarding experience for every child.
